Guest Blog Post: Elgin’s Festival Park is Worth Celebrating!

Here’s a general overview: The river is available to enjoy (i.e., bring duck feed as they are sometimes around); the Metra rail line offers a constant parade of trains (fun to ooh and ahh with the kids); the picturesque Grand Victoria River Boat is parked to the south (no, you can’t go on it, but it’s still fun to look at); the sprawling grounds provide plenty of green space for little legs to run on and on and on (but watch out for the little presents the geese leave in Spring!) or to fly a kite since there are no trees; and in the Summer, the “Spray Ground/Splash Pad” is operating, helping to keep everyone cool (wear a swimsuit–water sprays up from different port holes in the ground!). Mind you, everything I have mentioned here is FREE.
