Guest Blog Post: Top Picks for Families to do in the Area

Guest Blog Post: Mommy by the River

Hello to my once a week readers! I hope you had a great one! Can you feel the holiday spirit that has begun? I have a confession to make: I’m totally excited about celebrating Thanksgiving, listening to Christmas music and decorating the house for the holidays!

Between buying gifts, getting Christmas cards ready, planning menus and entertaining, life is likely to get a tad crazy this month and the next. Sometimes there is a tension between wanting to get things checked off your list and just simply hanging out with the family. Both are important–and there is a balance to implement, isn’t there?

So, if you need to stay home and get some things done, don’t feel so guilty about it, okay? The kids really will survive. But if you need a little “outing,” look below for a pretty good list this weekend. And since there’s always a need to change things up, I’ve added a BONUS event on Monday, November 11 since it is really great and don’t want you to miss out on it. Just an FYI…I plan to attend the Paleontology Science Night in Elgin on Friday, so if you are there, please say hello. I would love to meet you!

In my Top Picks for this weekend, you will find fun events to bring your kids to in the following towns: Elgin, Hoffman Estates, West Chicago and Wheaton. Best of all, they are all FREE or CHEAP! Please note that all of the events listed are drop-in and require no registration.

DISCLAIMER: The events posted below may change due to weather and other crazy circumstances, so I do encourage you to phone and/or check event information before heading out. And if they ask who sent you…tell them The Mommy did!
