The Edward Schock Centre of Elgin “The Centre” turns 20 this November!
While the Elgin Parks and Recreation Department has been around for quite some time, this year marks the 20-year anniversary of the Edward Schock Centre of Elgin. A true gem to the city, the Centre has provided the Parks and Recreation Department with a venue to offer so many programs and events that enhance the quality of life and wellness in our community. In celebration, several special events and programs have been planned to help reintroduce you to all of the different divisions that truly make the Parks and Recreation Department the heart of our community. Elgin Time Capsule
All Ages | Free!
The Elgin Parks and Recreation department is celebrating 20 years since the opening of The Edward Schock Centre of Elgin. We are putting together a time capsule that will be filled with items that represent Elgin Parks and Recreation today. We are asking the community to help contribute items to fill the capsule. Items should be fairly small (smaller than a phone) and should be something that you are okay parting with. Staff will review items on November 3 to select which ones will go in the time capsule at the November 12 20th Anniversary Celebration at 11:00 AM at The Centre. The time capsule will be sealed and not opened until 20 years from now at the 40th-anniversary celebration. Please drop off items at The Centre of Elgin Main Courtesy Desk by November 2. Examples of items could include a physical item or memento, picture, handwritten letter, or newspaper clipping.
Monster Mash Family Bash @ the Centre Fieldhouse

Join us for a Monstrous good time for a Very Scary night of nerf battles, dodgeball, basketball, swimming, and fun games. Free giveaways and snacks. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
20th Anniversary Celebration @ The Edward Schock Centre of Elgin:
Whiskey Tasting and Pairing Event @ Heritage Ballroom

All-access to 4 different tastings. Each tasting will include a neat pour of a select whiskey or bourbon, a cocktail and an accompanying dish created by Chef Greg that has been cultivated to pair flavours perfectly.

2 Mile Family Fun Walk

Get out and get moving with the family! The day will be packed with fun events for everyone to celebrate the Centre’s 20th anniversary of the Edward Schock Centre of Elgin. Take a leisurely fun walk along the Fox River before heading to the Centre for afternoon events including an Open House! Can’t wait to stroll with you!

Food Truck Fiesta

Local food trucks will be at The Edward Schock Centre of Elgin with food for purchase. Grab a bite and then head inside for live entertainment. Food trucks include Inches Tacos, Joe + Dough, Perk N Pickle, and Toasty Cheese.

Family Brunch with Santa @ Bowes Creek Country Club

Get your smiles ready! Santa is coming to Bowes Creek. Join us for brunch and pictures with Santa. Reservations are required. Contact Johnny’s Supper Club at 847-214-5887 to reserve your seating. Reservations begin after Thanksgiving.
