It’s almost Memorial Day weekend – the renowned three-day stretch that marks the unofficial start of summer! Whether you’re seeking a heartwarming tribute to fallen heroes, a day of family fun, or a taste of summer festivities, the Elgin area has something for everyone.

 

Attend a Memorial Day celebration 

Honor service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice at the Memorial Day Ceremony and Program in Elgin and the Memorial Day Walk & Remembrance in Bartlett.

 

Visit The Wall That Heals 

Remember those who served by visiting The Wall That Heals. The traveling three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, along with a mobile Education Center, will be open 24 hours a day and free to the public from May 24-27 at Randall Oaks Park in West Dundee.

 

Take in a fireworks show

The Memorial Day weekend fireworks at the James McCulla Jr. Memorial Fireworks show set for May 24 have been moved to Friday, June 8 due to poor weather anticipated for the Memorial Day weekend. The fireworks are shot off from the footbridge over the Fox River between East and West Dundee.

 

Go on a Museum Crawl

Discover the rich tapestry of Elgin’s history during the Elgin History Museum’s 2nd annual Museum Crawl on May 25. The event offers a free, self-guided tour of five historically significant buildings in Elgin. Hop aboard the Trolley at any of the participating museums and embark on an enriching adventure filled with fascinating exhibits, interactive experiences, and engaging activities for all ages.

The Full Moon Ride with Elgin Community Bikes on May 24 will be a moderate pace ride for 7 to 9 miles throughout the core neighborhoods of Elgin.

Black & Gray Brewing Co. in downtown East Dundee is hosting a Bags n’ Brews Cornhole Tournament on May 25.
