Honoring the Heroes: Local Sept. 11 Ceremonies

As the nation approaches the 23rd anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, communities in the Elgin area are coming together to honor the memory of those who lost their lives and to pay tribute to the bravery of first responders.

Here are some of the local ceremonies taking place to commemorate this solemn day:

 

Bartlett Fire District’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony in Bartlett:

  • 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Fire Station 1, 234 N. Oak Ave.

Sept. 11 Remembrance Day Ceremony in Carpentersville:

  • 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Fire Station 91, 213 Spring St.

Annual Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony in Elgin:

  • 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way.

9/11 Remembrance at Elgin Community College:

  • 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, outside the second floor of Building B, 1700 Spartan Drive.

9/11 Time of Remembrance in Gilberts:

  • 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church of Gilberts, 18N377 Galligan Road.

 

These ceremonies provide an opportunity for reflection and community solidarity.
