A Salute to Our Veterans: Elgin Area Veterans Day Ceremonies and Events

Veterans Day, celebrated on November 11th each year, is a time to honor and thank those who have served our country. The Elgin area offers a variety of events and ceremonies to commemorate this important day. Here’s a look at some of the highlights:

Ceremonies

Dundee Township Park District’s Veterans Day Celebration (Note: it’s the day before Veterans Day)

  • 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at Rakow Center.

Elgin’s Veterans Day Ceremony

  •  11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the Heritage Ballroom at the Edward Schock Centre of Elgin.

Carpentersville’s Veterans Day Ceremony

  • 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Carpenter Park.

Village of South Elgin’s Veterans Day Ceremony

  • 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the Public Safety Center Board Room, 50 N. Water St.

 

Events

Veteran Resource Fair

  • 12 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Hanover Township Senior Center in Bartlett.

Salute to Service Letter Writing Campaign at Gail Borden Public Library

  • 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Gail Borden Public Library

Free Dinner For Veterans

  • 2 to 4 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. (Reservations required.)
