Romance and autumn. They just seem to go together. Many fall activities make for a perfect date; walking through nature, enjoying a meal on a beautiful outdoor patio, and going to the pumpkin patch. This year, enjoy a full overnight getaway experience during one of the most romantic times of the year with your boo.

Day 1
Once arriving in the Elgin Area, it’s best to start by checking into your hotel.
After you’re done checking in, head into downtown Elgin to hop on the Fox River Bike Trail. Starting in Elgin, enjoy the beautiful sights of fall. The leaves are beautiful and since the trail stretches alongside the Fox River you’ll see all kinds of birds and wildlife during your journey.

After stretching your legs a bit, head into East Dundee where you’ll be spending the rest of the evening. First at Eastside Cafe for wine flights and appetizers. Small bite plates include hummus, a charcuterie board, and a bruschetta plate that all go very nicely with wine. However, if wine isn’t your thing, you can get a coffee flight instead! The baked goods are fresh and full of flavor and pair perfectly with coffee.

Day one ends with dinner at Rosie O’Hare’s Public House. This laid-back Irish pub is a great place to enjoy a good meal. Plus the outdoor patio overlooking the Fox River, live music, and fire pit make for a very lovely setting. Rosie’s is also open late, so if you get sidetracked or come in late, you’ll still be able to get a table.

Day 2
First, check out of your hotel and head over to Original Country Donuts to start the day. This café has so many fall foodie favorites. Sip on a fresh apple cider or a pumpkin latte. Pair that with a cider, pumpkin or maple-iced donut and you’re getting the full taste of the season!
After grabbing a quick bite, head over to The Pumpkin Wagon to pick out some pumpkins! This spot is full of pumpkins – 30 varieties to be exact. And you can find corn shocks, broom corn, potted mums, straw bales, and other delights of the fall season. It’s a one-stop shop for fall decorating.

Pack up the pumpkins and head back into Dundee where the romantic getaway wraps up. Walking through West Dundee is a real treat. There are lots of adorable shops like Trippots, the Half Full Nest, and Meraki Market Hub. The Dundee Riverwalk is also a beautiful sight. Take in the sights and enjoy some nice one-on-one time before heading to lunch.

Finally, the romantic getaway ends at Bleuroot. This is an amazing farm-to-table style restaurant with one of the most spectacular outdoor eating spaces. This outdoor balcony overlooks the Fox River and makes the most romantic setting. Bleuroot is also known for its drinks and starters.

After all is done, we hope you had a wonderful time!
