Binnie Forest Preserve
About
The wetland pockets here form the headwaters of the Kishwaukee River, which flows from the northern border of Binnie Forest Preserve. Visitors enjoy bird watching and wildlife observation from a network of mowed trails. A large picnic shelter and play field is popular with large groups.
The District purchased 119 acres for this preserve in 1969 to preserve the wetlands here. Additional acquisitions in 2002 have expanded the preserve. A Dundee Township open space addition next to the forest preserve has augmented the natural features of the area.
