Día de los Muertos at the Hemmens Cultural Center, along with pre-celebration activities

Join the Elgin Symphony Orchestra in celebrating Día de los Muertos at the Hemmens Cultural Center as we commemorate our loved ones and ancestors. This special event, in partnership with the Gail Borden Public Library, features music from Spain and Latin America, local singers and folkloric dancers, and some of your favorite songs.

Saturday, November 2 at 2:30 p.m.
The Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin
Tickets are $25 for adults, $5 for students. Seating is General Admission

**Additionally, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra has a special celebration planned for those attending the Saturday, Nov. 2, Día de los Muertos concert. Ticket holders can enjoy activities in The Hemmens Cultural Center lobby starting at 12:30 p.m. Free crafts, coloring activities, and facepainting will be available for children, and the Angel Salas Trio will perform in the lobby. Food from Vern’s Tavern, Sammy’s Mobile Taqueria & Cantina, and Mama Lee’s Popcorn will be available for purchase.

The 2:30 p.m. concert features José Carlos Díaz singing favorites like Sabor a mi and La Llorona, plus music from Latin America including Sobre las olas and Huapango, and featuring Elgin’s own BFH dance ensemble. The concert is being held in partnership with Gail Borden Public Library and the City of Elgin. Families attending the library’s morning festivities are encouraged to continue their Día de los Muertos celebration at the ESO’s event.
