The city of Elgin will host its annual Fourth of July celebration on Friday, July 4, with a full day of events including a parade, pet parade, live music performances and a fireworks show. This year’s parade and fireworks will be included in the area’s Illinois 250 celebration.

The celebration will begin with the Fourth of July parade at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Slade and Douglas avenues. The parade will proceed south on Douglas and conclude at Highland Avenue and Division Street, near City Hall, with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra serving as grand marshal. It is expected to wrap up by 11 a.m.

Following the parade, festivities will continue at Festival Park, 132 S. Grove Ave., and will include food trucks, children’s activities, games and live music. The concert lineup will be provided closer to the date.

The fireworks show is scheduled to begin around 9:20 p.m. and will last 15 to 20 minutes.
