Experience Bach’s Masterpiece: St. John Passion

The Elgin Master Chorale, in collaboration with the Bella Voce Sinfonia, proudly presents a breathtaking performance of J.S. Bach’s St. John Passion on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the Blizzard Theatre at the Elgin Community College Arts Center.

Starting 30 minutes before each major concert, Andrew Lewis will lead a lively, informative discussion about the music, composers, and historical context of the works being performed. The inaugural Beyond the Bar Lines talk for St. John Passion will begin at 3:00 PM, offering attendees a behind-the-scenes look at Bach’s masterpiece before the concert begins.

This season marks a major milestone as we celebrate Andrew Lewis’ 20th year as Music Director, honoring two decades of artistic excellence, visionary leadership, and deep community impact.

In recognition of this achievement and our continued dedication to serving the Fox Valley, EMC is thrilled to launch a bold new initiative: the Community Partner Initiative. Thei nitiative is a brand-new commitment by the Elgin Master Chorale to feature and celebrate a nonprofit organization at every major concert. Each season, we will highlight and support a different 501(c)(3) nonprofit making a meaningful difference in the Fox Valley region—helping to shine a
light on their work, raise awareness, and invite our audience to give back.

For our first-ever Community Partner Initiative concert, we are honored to feature Enriching Partnerships for Early Learning (EPEL)—a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that every child in the Fox Valley enters school ready to learn by connecting families with essential early learning resources and support.
