Elgin Public Museum and Side Street Studio Arts are partnering on a new combination series of educational and art Kids programming.
For four Saturdays in March (the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th), we’ll take a look at something in or just outside the museum, explain its special features and why it is important to our area — and then Side Street educators will lead an art or craft project based on the day’s topic.
On March 8th, we’ll talk about birds, using specimens in our museum Collection that kids can see up close and learn about their adaptations and what they tell us about their habitats.
On March, 15th, we’ll discuss and show insects and spiders.
On March 22nd, we’ll talk about Native Americans of this area and how their beadwork expressed appreciation for the world around them.
And on March 29th, if weather permits, we’ll go outside to see how spring is shaping up, and how much life is already coming back around us.
It’s a great way to learn about nature, anthropology, and art, all in the same session! One fee covers all four programs in the series, including all art supplies — and for envious grownups who wish they could participate, there is also one adult session (March 8th, 4 pm, on Birds).

ALL PROGRAMS TAKE PLACE AT ELGIN PUBLIC MUSEUM, INSIDE LORDS PARK.
