Join Going Dutch and Side Street Studio Arts for the culminating artist reception for GD artists-in-residence Rachel E Dohner & Olivia Comai.

Rachel E Dohner is an artist from Chicago who works in fibers, sculpture, furniture, video, fashion, and designed objects. This physicality and playfulness is central to the work Dohner makes about the internet, specifically about the ways that queer youth use digital worlds as tools to discover our burgeoning identities, twisting heteronormative media into something that is personal to us, and so real that it can be wrapped around your shoulders.

Olivia Comai is an interdisciplinary artist and designer based in Chicago who works with puppets, painting, print media, drawing, and knit textiles. Comai swaddles you up in the seductiveness of humor, softness, play, and colorful visuals to make complex topics such as queer identities, self-expression, isolation, and loss more digestible for a wider audience.

Going Dutch is a celebration of female and nonbinary voices in the arts, and is supported, in part, by the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission.
