Grammy Nominated Broadway Star Courtney Reed Returns to The Hemmens with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra

Broadway Star, Courtney Reed, returns to the Hemmens Stage for a concert on January 10th, 2025. Ms. Reed will be accompanied by the Elgin Symphony Orchestra. This concert marks the opening of the first presenting season in over a decade at the newly renovated Hemmens Cultural Center.

Courtney first fell in love with theatre at the age of 6 performing on The Hemmens’ stage as a mouse in Cinderella with Children’s Theatre of Elgin. At the age of 12 she played Annie in the CTE/FVYTC production of Annie and she knew she wanted to pursue her career in acting from that moment on. She continued focusing on theatre in high school at the Larkin Visual and Performing Arts Academy with a focus on Drama. Her favorite roles were Lucy in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, and Rizzo in Grease.

Courtney Reed is best known for originating the role of ‘Princess Jasmine’ in Disney’s smash Broadway hit Aladdin, in which she received a Grammy Nomination. She was last seen on Broadway as Satine, in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, a role she originated on the first national tour. Pre- pandemic she was seen in Lauren Yee’s award-winning play Cambodian Rock Band at The Signature Theatre. She also had the honor of being a part of the closing company of the Tony Award Winning Musical In The Heights, in which she played ‘Carla,’ u/s ‘Nina’ and ‘Vanessa’. She made her Broadway debut in Mamma Mia! Favorite Regional: ‘Andrea’ in Once on This Island at Papermill Playhouse directed by Thomas Kail. Television: Liza on Demand, Search Party, The Affair, Law & Order: SVU, White Collar, NYC 22, and CSI: NY. Courtney is also a proud co-producer of Disney Princess the Concert that can be seen all over the world.

The Elgin Symphony Orchestra experience is unmatched for a fun, relaxing, cultural experience. Now in its 75th season and under the direction of new Music Director, Chad Goodman, the ESO continues to delight audiences of all ages, year after year.
