Memoria Day ceremonies in Elgin

An Elgin tradition. Please join us to honor and mourn U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The Elgin Patriotic Memorial Association will be hosting four Memorial Day ceremonies at the following locations:
-Mt. Hope Cemetery 8:30 am
1001 Villa St, Elgin, IL 60120
-Lakewood Memorial Park Service 9:00 am
30W730 US-20, Elgin, IL 60120
-Veterans’ Memorial Park Service 9:40 am
This program is especially designed to pay tribute to veterans interred at sea
274 N. Grove Ave., Elgin, IL 60120 (adjacent to the Gail Borden Public Library, on the Fox River)
-Bluff City Cemetery Service 11:00 am
945 Bluff City Blvd, Elgin, IL 60120
Shuttle bus available
The events will honor the following and will include an Avenue of Flags, Color Guard and Rifle Team, laying of wreath, guest speakers, Taps, and more. See Elgin Patriotic Memorial Assn (EPMA) Facebook Page for more information (not yet updated for 2025)
Visitors are encouraged to consider attending services at any of the events.
Special Note: “Should weather conditions be deemed unsuitable by city officials for outdoor programs an announcement will be made no later than 8:30 am on Memorial Day that the Elgin Veterans Memorial Park and Bluff City Cemetery programs will be held at their normal times at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, Elgin.
