Nicole Prokop, Side Street Studio Arts Artist-in-Residence, is an Elgin-based artist whose largest influence comes from her love of nature and ever evolving curiosity towards the world.

She uses art to come out of her comfort zone and inspire others to do the same. She believes in creating artwork for the sake of it and aspires to enrich the world with artwork that fills viewers with a childlike feeling of wonder. She’s able to explore this childlike wonder by allowing her curiosity to roam free and experiment with a wide variety of mediums. In this collection of artworks entitled “TBD,” she pushes the boundaries of creating a cohesive and rigid theme that tells a singular story. “TBD” instead focuses on creating artwork for the sake of creativity, mirroring her current interests, being free of restrictions, and finding comfort in the unknown.
