“Preserving Black Joy: Portraits Celebrating Blackness,” is an exhibit of tintype photographs honoring the legacy of Black families and highlighting the richness of the Black community in Elgin, IL is now on display in Judson’s Draewell Gallery.
To quote the artists, Mark Lane and Atoi Glennette, “Through our lens, we challenge stereotypes, amplify marginalized voices, and inspire future generations to embrace their heritage. These images stand as symbols of pride and empowerment, celebrating the enduring legacy of Black culture.”
