The Colorful History of the Little Black Dress

Aug 24, 2022

7:00 pm

228 S Main St, Bartlett, IL 60103-4421, United States

Versatile, dependable, and affordable, the Little Black Dress, or “LBD,” has become the fashion equivalent of a Model T Ford.
In this illustrated lecture, historian Leslie Goddard, Ph.D., explores the history of this fashion icon. Learn how Chanel helped dissociate black from mourning, how Audrey Hepburn helped establish the LBD; and how it has been reinvented by everyone from Betty Boop to Prada.
Join the Bartlett History Museum on Wednesday, August 24 for this free program at Village Hall, 228 S. Main Street. Doors open at 6:30 P.M. for refreshments with a 6:45 P.M. pre-program by the museum that will highlight the history of the Bartlett Woman’s Club. Goddard’s presentation begins at 7:00 P.M.
Space is limited and registration is required. Email prohleder@bartlettil.gov with your name, the number of seats and your phone number.
