Women Singer-Songwriters of the 1970s program at Elgin Public Museum

Women Singer-Songwriters of the 1970s program at Elgin Public Museum
March 27 @ 6:30 pm

Elgin Public Museum Director (and frustrated singer-songwriter) Sharry Blazier presents a unique program examining the lives, loves, and music of four of the greatest female singer-songwriters of the 1970s: Janis Ian, Carole King, Carly Simon, and Joni Mitchell.
What are their backstories? How were their young lives influenced by the rapid social changes of the 60s-70s, and how did they influence their female fans in return? What gives a Joni song its distinct musical sound? Why was Janis a “has-been” at only 16? You’ll find out — and so much more.
-$5.00 admission
-$3.00 for Museum Members.
-Please, adults only. Some subject matter may be inappropriate for younger audiences.
Just to give us a basic headcount of how many to expect, we’d appreciate if you’d sign up (JUST A FIRST NAME WILL DO) here, but there is no payment option on the site; pay at the desk on the evening of the program, please:
