Join The Yale Whiffenpoofs in Elgin, IL for Charlie Karner’s hometown concert.

Charlie is a 2020 graduate of Central High School and he is excited to bring the Whiffenpoofs home on their Spring tour! He first discovered his love of performing with the Elgin Children’s Choir and Children’s Theatre of Elgin, continuing with shows at Vero Voce, Steel Beam and the Fine Arts Department at Central High School. At Yale, Charlie discovered his interest in a cappella through performing and traveling with his undergraduate a cappella group, The Doox of Yale, and was later selected to perform with the Yale Whiffenpoofs.

Since their founding in 1909, the Whiffenpoofs have brought their diverse repertoire of vocal jazz, folk, pop, and Broadway hits to more than two hundred audiences each year across all 6 inhabited continents.

In past years, the ‘Whiffs’ have sung for Presidents Obama, Bush (41 and 43), Clinton, and Reagan, and at venues including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. They’ve even been featured on television shows such as “The Sing Off,” “The West Wing,” “Glee,” and most recently, “Hell’s Kitchen.”
