During times of uncertainty our incredible communities have united together to get through together. In light of recent events, the time has come for us to stand together and support our local businesses, and neighbors. Here are a few ways you can lend a hand to your community.
- Support local restaurants by ordering delivery through Doordash or Uber Eats
- Contribute to a local non-profit to help them through this difficult time

The Papa John’s in West Dundee announced on March 15th through their Facebook page that families who have taken a hit and are having a hard time especially now that schools have closed can receive free pizza- no other purchase necessary. They ask that if you’re having difficulty to reach out to them via phone at 847-458-7272, or through private messaging on their Facebook page.
Microsoft is offering a free 6 month subscription for Microsoft Teams for those who have shifted to a work from home arrangement.
U-46 will provide free meals for all persons under the age of 18, no questions asked, no paperwork needed. This plan will go into motion on Tuesday, March 17 and we will need the help of many employees to make it happen. Be looking for information on how you can assist.

The state of Illinois has created a website dedicated to the COVID-19 response.
There is an assitance program called The Small Business Administration Coronavirus Disaster Relief Lending Program. Their Economic Injury Disaster Loans offer up to $2 million in assistance for each affected small business.
For those who are experiencing unemployment who worked as bartenders in the service industry there is a program called the Bartenders Emergency Assistance Program.

Unemployment Compensation
States will have more flexibility over waiting periods and the “able, available and actively looking” test for Unemployment Compensation (U.C.) eligibility. Some states, significantly impacted by COVID-19, will also have unemployment benefits extend past the normal 26 weeks, which will be funded by the federal government.
Paid Sick Leave
All employers with less than 500 employees will be mandated to provide two weeks of paid sick leave to employees effected by COVID-19, including an employee who is a caregiver for a child whose school or daycare is closed.
Paid Family and Medical Leave (FMLA)
Employers with less than 500 employees will be required to provide employees with up to 12 weeks of paid FMLA if they are unable to work or telework because of a public health emergency and cannot care for their children if schools are closed, or their daycare is unavailable.
