The perfect throwback experience for families, even if they have never visited, is Santa’s Village & Santa Springs Water Park in East Dundee. This is a quintessential “Memory Maker” stop—perfect for younger kids with its classic rides, petting zoo, and the water park right on the same site. The newly reopened Polar Dome Ice Rink is openfrom September to April.

If you have teenagers in tow, a detour to Paintball Explosion offers world-class themed fields for a competitive family challenge. And it shares the same parking lot as Santa’s Village, so no need to move your car.

Day 1

Evening

Head to your Elgin Area hotel to drop off the gear and take a breather.

Test your family’s teamwork at Escapade 360 in downtown Elgin or Panic Escape Room in South Elgin. It’s a high-stakes, high- reward way to cap off the afternoon.

If you are looking for a trip down memory lane that will have the whole family laughing, then head over to the Underground Retrocade. Give the kids a history lesson in gaming with over 100 classic arcade cabinets—no quarters required (it’s one flat fee)!

Day 2

Afternoon

Spend your morning in South Elgin. Take a fun trip back in time that will have kids learning about history while enjoying nature at the Fox River Trolley Museum. Located right down the street, stop at SEBA Park. It’s one of the best inclusive playgrounds in the region, right on the Fox River.

Burn off some extra energy at Epic Air Trampoline Park. The entire family can get in on a fun game of dodgeball or race each other into the foam pits.

If ice skating is more your vibe, then check out the open skate hours at Canlan Ice Arena in West Dundee for some laps around the rink.

What trip would be complete without at least one water slide? Bartlett Aquatic Center features slides and a lazy river, ensuring everyone sleeps the whole way home. Dolphin Cove Family Aquatic Center in Carpentersville offers another option for outdoor fun in the sun.
