This exhibition will comprise both an open call to all artists and an invitational component of regional artists curated by Elgin-based artist Freddrick D. Wimms and SSSA Exhibitions Committee. Opening Reception: (all dates and times are subject to change pending State of IL Covid-19 mitigation plan)

Join us for a dynamic presentation by children’s author Charles Waters. His book, Can I Touch Your Hair?: Poems of Race, Mistakes, and Friendship, won many state awards, and is an ALA Notable Book. Twice a month we will we post on our web and Facebook page a unique and fun scavenger hunt you can do at Hawthorne Hill Nature Center. Go online using our QR code that will provide you a fun fact hike clue sheet or pick-up a clue sheet the day of the listed theme. Hunt themes will change and hard copies will be available at Hawthorne Hill on the dates listed.

Frozen Oaks 5K

Randall Oaks Golf Club

We are hosting our Frozen Oaks 5K with staggered start times in February to stay safe and still enjoy an in-person race!?❄️This event will take place at the Randall Oaks Golf Club where you will twist and turn through the scenic Randall Oaks Golf Course! All pre-registered participants will receive a race swag bag! Day of registered participants will receive a swag bag as long as supplies last. In addition, every participant that finishes the 5K will receive a finisher’s medal! Registration is now open.

Full Moon Ride- February

Elgin Community Bikes
February 27 at 9 PM – 10:30PM
It’s the Full Moon Ride! This will be a moderate pace ride for 7 to 8 miles throughout the core neighborhoods of Elgin. Join us for this social night ride! Reminder: Illinois State law requires bike riders to have a clear light on the front and a red reflector or a red light on the back for night time riding. That would be the minimum attempt for safety, so let’s all be easy to see on the street.

Fused Glass Art Classes

Create your own yard or indoor art, or make a gift for Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day. You will work with various forms of glass pieces along with a slurry of glass powder to make two large flowers with long copper stems. Cindy will help you find color combinations and embellishments and guide you through the process. She will take your project to her studio to fuse it and return the finished work to Arts in Bartlett. Fee includes all materials. $50 for Arts in Bartlett members; $65 for nonmembers.

It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice… or take a stand… or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs for a New World. The first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make.
