#2 Van’s Frozen Custard and Burgers
16 East Main St., East Dundee IL
Van’s Frozen Custard and Burgers is highly recommended throughout our community. Numerous voters mentioned that they’ve been going to Van’s for years and that it’s their go-to place for a family night out! What makes Van’s stand out on this list is that they are not strictly dessert oriented. While their custard is the reason they’ve rank so highly on this list, we wouldn’t be doing them any justice is we didn’t mention their food as well. It’s a one stop for families because there’s dinner and great dessert all in one place. They’re also located near downtown West Dundee where you can eat your custard while enjoying the scenic river walk along the Fox River.
Staff Recommendation: Chocolate Marshmallow Shake
#1 The Milk House
230 Reinking Rd, Pingree Grove IL
To say The Milk House is a fan favorite would be a complete understatement. They have taken our top spot after raking in 65% of our total votes. Many even said they drive very far out of their way just to stop by! So what is it that makes The Milk House so special? We listened to our voters, and here’s why…
What our Voters Love about The Milk House
- The ice cream always tastes delicious
- Their ingredients are incredibly fresh and homemade
- The homemade waffle cones are “to die for”
- The staff is incredibly friendly
- Their ingredients are locally sourced and support local farmers and businesses
- They are always mixing things up. New and unique flavors and flavor combinations hit the freezer very frequently. Their Movie Night ice cream for example, combines the buttery salty taste of popcorn and the chocolaty flavors of candy snacks all rolled up together. And now it’s a hit!
- They’re open year round and decorate their separate sitting area beautifully for Christmas and the kids love it. Also this separate sitting area is heated, so you can comfortably enjoy their ice cream no matter how cold it is outside.
Staff Recommendations: Triple Strawberry or Movie Night in a Waffle Cone
