Pick up free Narcan at the Elgin Fire Department Open House

Narcan (generic name: naloxone) is a life-saving nasal spray that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose. The Kane County Health Department periodically holds events to provide the public with Narcan/naloxone at no charge ​​and training on how to use it.

We recommend you have Narcan on hand if:

you or someone you know use prescription opioids
you or someone you know use recreational opioids
you or someone you know are at risk of experiencing an overdose
you may witness an overdose

Anyone in Illinois can be trained to administer Narcan and we will be providing a 5-minute training to each person who picks up a two-dose package of Narcan. Narcan is as safe as water, has no contraindications, and can be used on anyone regardless of age or health status. Narcan is not a substitute for calling 911. No registration is required.
