Elgin Area Firefighter’s Memorial Service

The 2024 Elgin Area Firefighter’s Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 18, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Elgin Fire Barn #5 Museum, located at 533 St. Charles Street, Elgin.

Event by Elgin Fire Department.

The 32nd annual service will be held in the Illinois Firefighter’s Memorial Plaza and will honor Illinois firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year, as well as active duty or retired members of the approximately 20 participating area departments.
The memorial plaza recognizes (active and retired) firefighters from Elgin and the surrounding communities who have passed away, as well as all Illinois line-of-duty firefighter fatalities since 1994.
The event is open to the public and will be held outdoors. Street parking is available. In addition, parking will be available across the street from the memorial at Garfield Elementary School, located at 420 May Street and at Calvary Baptist Church located at 551 Arlington Avenue.
In the event of rain, the event will be moved indoors to the Calvary Baptist Church. The event will be streamed live on the Elgin Fire Department Facebook page.
